What is a Recognized Neighborhood Association?
A recognized neighborhood association is a group of people who identify with a common area, who share common goals and concerns, and who meet the standards of neighborhood recognition. Recognized associations represent the position of the collective neighborhood and provide input to City Council, Boards and Commissions and City Staff on issues affecting neighborhoods.
The Watrous South Neighborhood Association LLC, is an Iowa non-profit corporation and is a city-sanctioned neighborhood organization that works with city leaders, staff, and other stakeholders to address issues, concerns, and goals for the Watrous South neighborhood.
The purpose of Watrous South Neighborhood Association is to provide an organized framework to promote, preserve, and enhance the quality of life and values in the Watrous South Neighborhood by:
Extending the opportunities of residents, landowners, entrepreneurs, and other intetested parties.
Elevating and promoting the image of the neighborhood.
Encouraging a sense of pride and identity among The Association's members.
Providing liaison with members of the City Council, City Manager's office, Code Enforcement, Neighborhood Patrol Officers and all other appropriate governmental agencies and entities affecting the Watrous South Neighborhood.
Providing an open forum.
Familiarizing residents, landowners, and entrepreneurs with The Association and its purpose.
Representing residents at other organizational meetings germane to the community.
Annual Membership is $10.00 per family, $25.00 per business.
